A little about me...
I've been using computers since I first laid hands on a TRS-80 in a Radio Shack store back in 1980. I was in Grade 9 at the time. I went on to do an MBA in Information Systems at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. I did all three of my Co-op work terms at IBM Canada. When I graduated, I worked for Burns Fry Limited for several years as a Business Systems Analyst. I left Burns Fry to pursue a career in the Broadcasting industry, producing a Television show on the Internet, called "Online Today", for Rogers Cable. As far as I know, this program was the first of its kind.
My career as a broadcaster was cut short, however, when I joined Toronto's first Internet consulting company, Internet
Solutions Group. I got to do some really neat stuff, like Internet setup
and training for Peter Gzowski (host of CBC Radio's Morningside),
and work for clients like The Royal
Bank of Canada, Honda Canada, and
HJ Heinz.
I left ISG in 1995 to work with Convoke
Communications Corporation, an Internet consulting and Web hosting
firm. Another neat gig, where I continued to help people to understand
and use the Internet and New Media. While at Convoke, I became involved
with the Interactive Multimedial Arts and Technology Association (IMAT). I left Convoke in late 1996 to accept a contract position
at CIBC, where I was the Product Manager
for CIBC PC Banking. In 1997 I took a contract at Netcom Canada, and developed a Value-Added Partner program for Internet Developers.
Since leaving Netcom earlier this year, I have kept busy with several projects. Since 1995, I have provided new media training and consulting through my own company, QRG.COM. In addition, I am a part-time instructor at Centennial College's (Bell Centre for Creative Communications), where I teach several new media courses. Finally, I am Web site leader for the Marketing Web sites of ITP Nelson and Houghton Mifflin
In my spare time, I enjoy mountain biking, listening to Bach, playing guitar, and astronomy. For more info, check out my personal page, on my Web site. Cheers!
